Tendre Peine: Airs de cour

Soprano Andréanne Brisson-Paquin, accompanied by baroque flautist Joanna Marsden and lutenist Daniel Zuluaga, transport us to the seventeenth and eighteenth century to an intimate setting at the French court. This elegant programme introduces the tender music of composers inspired by the charms of nature and the bitter deceptions of unrequited love.

Jamais ung cueur: Extraits des chansons musicales d’Attaignant (1533)

The prolific music publisher Pierre Attaignant published two collections of chansons musicales which make up the first French books of music for Renaissance transverse flutes. These include polyphonic songs by the immensely popular songwriters Claudin de Sermisy, Josquin, Festa, Lupi, Vermont, Jacotin, le Heurteur and more. We pair these polyphonic pieces with Attaignant’s ornate transcriptions of songs for keyboard.

Join us for an intimate afternoon of music and poetry.

Telemann: Paris Quartets

The German composer Georg Philipp Telemann wrote a set of six quartets for master musicians Blavet, Guignon, Forqueray and Édouard in preparation for his visit to Paris in 1738.
